Sultans Table is a delicious and authentic little Turkish restaurant in Sydney’s “Grunge Style” suburb Newtown. Aside from offering the typical Kebabs they also have a wide variety of vegetarian and some even vegan food…
Sultans Table looks from the outside like a Take Away Shop that only sells Kebabs.
Stepping inside you find a rich display of Turkish Mezze’s/ Entrées…
Further inside is a little and authentically decorated Turkish restaurant with a large outdoor area, which is heated in winter.
No matter what day of week we go there for dinner, they are always packed! Therefore you should make a reservation before going there.
PLUS: It is BYO (bring your own wine or beer)

The Veggie Dishes
Large Mixed Dip-Plate [vegetarian]
The dips are homemade and always served with warm Turkish bread. Mostly vegetarian dips thy are made with yoghurt, except for the hummus and tahini dip.
Here you find beetroot, tahini, pumpkin, tzatziki, parsley, yoghurt, spicy capsicum and hummus dips. All really nice and fresh 🙂
Spinach and Cheese Pide [vegetarian]
Freshly made “boat shaped” bread stuffed with fresh spinach, onion and cheese. Squeeze the lemon over the Pide for a little citrusy taste. There are other stuffing options on the menu as well.
Homemade Falafel [Vegan]
Falafels are usually made from chickpeas or fava beans. They fry the falafel and serve 6 of them with warm flat Turkish bread, parsley, tomatoes, lettuce, red onion and hummus dip. I love to stack a little bit of each ingridient on top of the bread and roll it up. So good 🙂
They also serve Turkish rice pudding, baklava or Turkish delight. We were way too stuffed to try them out though! Too much bread in the end 🙂
A small and loud restaurant packed with oriental atmosphere serving delicious and great priced Turkish food.
It is always an experience seeing the waiters buzzing around, the chefs kneading the bread and making the Kebabs whilst sipping on their Turkish tea.
It is a little naughty in terms of fat and carbs but it’s always a delight to visit and eat @ Sultans Table.
Well, we certainly keep coming back 🙂
