We are supposed to eat around 5-9 portions of veggies per day. Not only vegetarians but all of us!! Yes that’s right. We need this amount to fuel our body proper and to stay healthy and keep the weight off. How you can incorporate more veggies into your diet? Easy with Smoothies 🙂
Veggies Help to keep the Weight Off
Your body tells you it is hungry when it is missing the nutrition it needs. If you eat something not nutritious like a pizza your body will tell you soon that it is hungry again and so we grab something else to eat like some chocolate because it is still missing the nutrition and so the catch 22 begins and we gain weight…Until you fuel it with the right food!
Not only that, we are supposed to eat 50% raw veggies because they contain most of the nutrition as the nutrition gets lost when the food gets heated. We only eat three times per day and if we eat something in-nutritious during these three meals we lost already the battle to great health and weight loss.
Add raw Veggies into your Diet with Smoothies!!!
I use smoothies as the whole fruits and veggies are blended in the blender and are not extracted, just chopped very fine. This way you keep all the fiber. Mother nature is really smart, as your body knows what to do with the sugar if it arrives packaged in fiber. The sugar then gets released very slow in your body and keeps your blood sugar levels steady and causes less to no sugar cravings. This is also called low GI.
How to make a yummy Green Smoothy
You choose your greens and fruits add them into a blender pour some non-dairy milk and some water.
- 1 large leave of kale
- 5 fresh strawberries
- 1 Banana
- 2 Table spoons chia seeds
- Nut Milk such as Rice or Almond Milk
Add or swap
- Spinach Leaves
- Almonds or cashews
- Pumpkin or Sunflower seeds
- Dates/raisins to make it sweeter
Chop your ingredients coarsely and throw them into the blender. According to my blender (you need to read the instructions) you need to place the hard to chop veggies or fruits at the bottom of the cup. Watch the water mark on your blenders container and fill the ingredients with half non dairy milk and half water up to the marker.
***It’s important to use a blender that has more than 500 watts to chop up the nuts. best is 700w.
A delicious quick and easy breakky that adds raw veggies into your day and with that vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants and if you add nuts or chia seeds as well protein and omega 3. So eat up our your veggies- every day and in all colors and variations!
